Since 1982, Bay Area Homeless Services, Inc. (BAHS) has been providing the basic needs of homeless residents of Baytown residents. In the intervening years, programs have expanded to serve a greater number of clients, and an ever-widening service area.

Currently, BAHS serves as an emergency homeless shelter for eastern Harris County, Chambers County and Liberty County. Each year we provide services for homeless individuals who arrive in the area looking for work and find themselves in desperate situations.

BAHS is a special agency in that it provides much more than the "three hots and a cot" concept associated with many contemporary community homeless shelters. Our founding members valued the dignity that work provides, and we still proactively engage with our clients to assist them to seek out employment opportunities designed to return them to the ranks of the self-sufficient.

I want you and the staff to know that without BAHS, its staff, and clients, I would not have been able to continue to be the person that I am.
